Carl Schumann

President

Carl is in his second year at King's reading Political Economy. He enjoys white wines from Germany and Austria, red wines from Italy, and a good bottle of port but hopes that the society will broaden his knowledge of other wine-regions. After the society ceased operating throughout the pandemic, Carl's goal is to build on the success and work of previous committees to stimulate a community of wine enthusiasts from all parts of the University that doesn't only provide opportunities to taste and learn about exceptional wines and their origin but also a unique space for students from different degrees (and universities) to meet around this common interest.

Angèle Rougeot Subtil

VP & Events Officer

Angèle is a third-year History and International Relations student. She grew up in Beaune, Burgundy (France) and therefore is a fervent advocate for wines from the region. Although she is mostly used to French wine she is enthusiastic about red Italian wine. With the society, she wishes to expand her knowledge and explore new horizons with other passionate students. Angèle has a vision for the society that is all about providing an inclusive opportunity to step into the world of wine. She firmly believes that wine is first and foremost about sharing and wants to create opportunity for networking, meeting other wine enthusiasts, and of course tasting!

Robin Michelsson

Treasurer

Dominic Robin is a third-year History student from Finland. His icy northern homeland is not world-renowned for its wine industry, yet he has not abandoned all wine drinking in favour of akvavit. He is enthusiastic about Italian and French wines, and particularly enjoys wines from Piedmont and Veneto. Robin is committed to helping make the society an exciting place for everyone to broaden their knowledge about wine, while making new acquaintances in a pleasant atmosphere.

Casey Jayne Collins

VP & Communications Officer

Casey Jayne is a second-year Politics student from Indianapolis, Indiana (USA). Choosing to study Politics at King's over Viticulture & Enology in Napa Valley, she aims to blend two passions by discovering how both climate change and environmental policy are affecting the wine industry and the tastes of our current favourite wines. Growing up seeing the expansive cultural reach of wine communities, she is excited to provide students a doorway to step into the sometimes intimidating world of wine. She is known to be partial to red wines from the Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico as well as some classic champagne.
